Hi colleagues

I received an e-mail in which the new translation contest was announced. Had a quick look: the English text is the only one I can read well enough to be able to translate it, but Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë is too difficult for me.

Hi colleagues

I received an e-mail in which the new translation contest was announced. Had a quick look: the English text is the only one I can read well enough to be able to translate it, but Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë is too difficult for me.
Which, by the way, brings up the question: if a text from the 'classics' is used, from a book that will most certainly have been translated into various languages, how will we know whether the contestant could resist the urge to copy bits and pieces from existing translations?
Of course there are copyright issues, but wouldn't it be wiser to chose a text that has most probably not yet been translated?

Lots of Finnish classics have never been translated into other languages than German or Swedish.

I would enter the contest, if there were some unpublished text to translate, shouldn't be too difficult to find unpublished authors.
Cheers
Heinrich
