See more Some time ago I saw the following picture of an Arabic tattoo gone horribly wrong: The young woman probably wanted a tattoo with the following words: صفاء شجاعة مقاومة (Serenity/Clarity, Courage, Resistance) While her tattoo might look Arabic to someone who doesn't know Arabic, it doesn't make sense at all, because all the characters are in the wrong position and not correctly connected and I guess that even Arabs would need a minute to figure out this puzzle. ▲ Collapse
That's why I just went for the pictorial kind, and in a place known only to very close friends.
I have a few in Arabic but they are all spelt right, though when i look in the mirror at the one on my back I keep thinking it is wrong. Seen some horrendous ones with spelling mistakes in English never mind when people try to get them done in another language. You really need to trust your translator when you are getting a tattoo done

Yes... absolutely. I tell my friends, if you want a tattoo with Japanese/Chinese characters, you run it through me before you put that on your body... lol. I've seen all kinds of things. Including, the character "love" inverted on a car. (like a mirror image) There is also the problem of the writing looking like chicken scratch, which I have seen as well. (That seems to also be the case on the Arabic tattoo as well.)

...if one day one of my sons comes home with a tattoo I will take him to the plastic surgeon immediately to have it removed. I feel it is a complete lack of respect for your body. No hard feelings guys, just my opinion!

I hope so for her, as she now needs the "serenity to accept the things she cannot change." Poor thing. I encourage my daughters to use the stick-on kind; they last a week or so, and when they tire of it - presto! it's gone. No lifelong commitments!
In the sense: strange or bizarre Tattoos and piercings are weird; simply reflecting weirdness of the weirdo tattooed and/or pierced.
