See more Happy Saint Patrick's Day to all, whether you are Irish the rest of the year or not... ...And a toast to your health! (If you've got a favorite, please add it on.) Here's to lying, cheating, stealing and drinking: If you lie, lie to save a friend. If you cheat, cheat death. If you steal, steal a heart away. If you drink, drink with me. May the roof of this pub never fall in and the friends gathered beneath it never fall out. Here's to your coffin... May it be built of 100 year old oaks which I will plant tomorrow. May the sons of your daughters smile up in your face. I've drunk to your health in the pubs, I've drunk to your health in my home, I've drunk to your health so many times, that I've almost ruined my own.

Not sure if this is quite what you had in mind, but it's about an Irishman drinking, so here goes: THE PIG One evening in October, When I was far from sober, And dragging home a load with manly pride, My feet began to stutter, so I lay down in the gutter, And a pig came up and parked right by my side. Then I warbled, “Its fair weather When good fellows get together”, Till a lady passing by was heard to say: “You can ... I'm terribly sorry to spoil the celebrations, but you're actually two days late. St. Patrick's Day was celebrated on the 15th this year, so it wouldn't fall into the Holy Week.

[Edited at 2008-03-17 14:53] I just got confirmation that you are right... The Catholic church moved St Patty's day to avoid it from falling on the same day as "Holy Monday". But ne'er ye mind. Today is the saint day of Patrick, so we'll make do. Always have!

MAY YOU BE IN HEAVEN.... HALF AN HOUR BEFORE THE DEVIL KNOWS YOU'RE DEAD! There you are, short and sweet. Just like me. I was wondering how long it would take for someone to post something with an Irish flavour... I have another, better toast, but it might not be appropriate to publish it here, so I won't (can't). Sláinte, a 'chuile dhuine. PS: Johannes is absolutely right about the 'date' of St Pat's this year: we all got a... See more | |

I am sure as well Jack, the Irish are not the only ones that will enjoy celebrating no matter when. These poems made my day (even though I don't know what St. Patrick's Day means - I will check the link Nancy wrote though- ) God bless him though, if he can light our souls with such poems and toasts to friendship or friendly accomplices. May your heart be light and happy, May your smile be big and wide, And may your pockets always have a coin or two inside! And if you spent your last coin on a round for your friends last night, remember...
