As translators and interpreters, changing texts or speeches from one language into another is how we earn a living. Therefore, linguistic diversity plays a key role in our lives.

However, it is also hugely important in its own right, not just as the reason we have our jobs. Linguistic diversity is ultimately a reflection of cultural diversity, and it is the vast rainbow of cultural yarns that make the tapestry of mankind so special.

Here's hoping that the Charter for Regional or Minority Languages will soon be signed and ratified by the remaining European countries. Happy European Day of Languages, everyone!
