"I want to learn language X ..." Sep 7, 2005

Reading the postings on the site brings to mind a quote from Greg Thomson.

"... all those people who say, "I want to learn language X; where can I find a textbook?" What would be a better first question for them to ask? Try "I want to learn language X; where can I find some speakers of language X?" How rarely people ask that. How odd."

Learning Greek_SINCERE OPINIONS NEEDED! Sep 29, 2005

Hi! I would like a sincere answer to my questions:
I am an Italian translator and my working languages are English, French and Portuguese. I was thinking about learning Greek and I would like to know if it is a good working choice and if it is possible to have a good PASSIVE knowledge within 2 years.
Please give me your opinion!
