Dear all at the end of April I will be giving my final dissertation (a post degree course). Among other tasks, I have to write a literary commentary to the above mentioned poem. Does any of you know any interesting websites on this poem? I found some material which doesn't seem too reliable though. Or can you suggest some critical essays on Plath, which I could buy either in Italy or on the Internet? Thanks a lot in advance for your help. Sabi... The fire makes it precious, The same fire Melting the tallow heretics, Ousting the Jews. Their thick palls float Over the cicatrix of Poland, burnt-out Germany. They do not die. Grey birds obsess my heart, Mouth-ash, ash of eye. They settle. On the high Precipice That emptied one man into space The ovens glowed like heavens, incandescent. It is a heart, This holocaust I walk in, O golden child the world will kill and eat. http://www.americanpoems.com/poets/sylviaplath/7853 Discussions of Mary's Song http://www.poeticvoices.com/Reviews/9802Plath.html http://books.guardian.co.uk/departments/generalfiction/story/0,6000,894765,00.html http://www.iath.virginia.edu/pmc/text-only/issue.598/8.3deshong.txt http://www.art.man.ac.uk/english/manuscript/plath.htm http://www.plathonline.com/articles/AL0700.html Discussions of Sylvia Plath's poetry http://www.usfca.edu/fac-staff/southerr/throes.html http://web.archive.org/web/20021217215015/http://www.bath.ac.uk/~exxdgdc/lynx/lynx56.html http://trashotron.com/agony/columns/2004/04-15-04.htm Links http://www.literaryhistory.com/20thC/Plath.htm http://www.geocities.com/SoHo/7773/PlathLinks.html ▲ Collapse | | | Try this one... | Mar 30, 2005 |
Dickie, Margaret. "Sylvia Plath's Narrative Strategies". Critical Essays on Sylvia Plath . Ed. Linda W. Wagner. Boston: G. K. Hall & Company, 1984. It should be available at Amazon .co.uk. It proves very thought-provoking Giovanna | | |
I also suggest watching Gwyneth Paltrow in the movie "Sylvia". | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Sylvia Plath - Mary's song Protemos translation business management system | Create your account in minutes, and start working! 3-month trial for agencies, and free for freelancers!
