Ladies and Gentlemen...Emerson, Lake & Palmer!!!

(Au!!!)

Ladies and Gentlemen, I mean, my dear Prozmates, thank you so very much to those of you who have joined this party. Some have joined the party with their writings, others with their votes and others by reading. This Party of Words was possible thanks to all of you. Thank you from the bottom of my diagnosed heart.

The numbers say that there is a winner but I have the feeling that we are all winners, that we have all won, somehow: we have enriched our lives with this experience, haven't we?

Now, although I am not a formal type of a woman, I would like to invite my readers (audience?) to join me to the 'formal part' of this Prize Award Ceremony. Sooo go and take your tuxedo or your best dress. I wait here, I am all dressed up for the event!
Ready?

We are now going to listen to the Prozian Anthem which was written by ProZian Enrique Cavallito (melody is by Greensleeves.) Lovely Jason has put it online here: so we can all listen to it together now. Whose is that magical voice? Prozian Flavio Benedetti's.

It takes a couple of seconds to download, don't get anxious, just enjoy this moment.

Warning: you may start crying: the Anthem is beautiful, Flavio's voice is GREAT and the Anthem is full of proZian references which we all share (this warning goes in case your children, boss or any other third party is near.) If you want to follow the ProZian Anthem I copied it below.

ProZ.com lives!

Alas my friend, I´m in ProZ.com again
looking for a word, searching for a term
I left in KudoZ my cry for help
after browsing in vain through the glossary.

ProZ.com lives! Such a worthy place,
where I quote for jobs,
where I meet with friends,
where we can enjoy and share
and some day at a powwow I´ll meet thee!

I am ProZian, and in this place
I find tips and jobs, a community,
and all that help that we give and get,
and the fun and the joy of our company.
ProZ.com lives! Such a worthy place,
where I quote for jobs,
where I meet with friends,
where we can enjoy and share
and some day at a powwow I´ll meet thee!

Enrique Cavallito & Greensleeves

Beautiful, isn't it? Everytime we get together at a powwow in Argentina we sing it and it is like a spell that fills our hearts with love and which reminds us that we have this amazing community.

Apart from the big THANK YOU mentioned above (this is the legal translator speaking hey!), in particular I would like to thank and to congratulate these people below (even myself, yes, boastful as it may sound what can I do? remove my picture? I did participate!):

Thank you for 'putting up your hands', thank you for accepting the invitation to fly and thank you for taking us to unbelievable places. Thank you for sharing a part of your minds with us (or was it your hearts? or is it the same? Dan? Could you please explain to us the difference between the mind and the heart or are you already in Hell? )

Here they are:

And now...

The Prize.

I went to the car dealer's but he wouldn't accept my browniz, not even my KudoZ! Stupid man! Anyway. I have thought of a prize which is much better than a simple Volvo. Here it is. Ladies and Gentlemen:

This is the prize for the WINNER who still remains unknown (by the way).

The author is an old friend who lives in some libraries (and in some hearts/minds) and is 'legally' domiciled somewhere in Geneva (in a way). The other author, the translator, is also a good friend, known to most of us.

Yes, the winner will be rewarded with WORDS!!!

The Winner

As I said before, we are all winners: we have won something (each one of us knows what) in this humble Contest. So we all deserve to share the Prize then. Let's unfold the prize together, the winner, a great man will not «mind» I chose this poem because...no, you WILL realize...

THE JUST

A man who cultivates his garden, as Voltaire
wished.
He who is grateful for the existence of music.
He who takes pleasure in tracing an etymology.
Two workmen playing, in a cafe in the South,
a silent game of chess.
The potter, contemplating a color and a form.
The typographer who sets this page well
though it may not please him.
A woman and a man, who read the last tercets
of a certain canto.
He who strokes a sleeping animal.
He who justifies, or wishes to, a wrong done to him.
He who is grateful for the existence of
Stevenson.
He who prefers others to be right.
These people, unaware, are saving the world.

Let's make this traditional Aug 13, 2005

I am sorry to have missed all the fun while having fun away in vacation. Alas!

Seems too late for me to cast a vote, but I'd like to tell that Dan's has been my favorite piece, as well... for its diabolical thrust, witty wordplay, and the fresh new breath it adds to a classic which itself has been a new breath given to the toughest conflict man has had to encounter throughout his conscious history... euhm... shall I shut up right now, or...?...

Congratulations, Dan! Congratulations, Aurorora! Congratulations to all Prozians!

And to echo once more what several others have already voiced: I genuinely hope that we can make this literary contest a Proz tradition.

You are right, my dear Dan. I forgot to publicly thank Leticia (aka Laika, my daughter) who created the drawing(s). May be I was too busy telling her that I had decided to change my Last Will and Testament after reading that her nine (9!) points had gone to your story.

Cheers!

Au
