Hello,

Does anyone know if there is a reliable software to count words in a website for translation purposes.

Thanks,

John

Hi John Jan 15, 2003

I use PractiCount. It does count HTML files, but I have never checked copying them in Word, for instance.

Notetab light is free Jan 15, 2003

I use Notetab, function Remove all tags, then Statistics.

Then I can close the file without saving.

Yes, but... Jan 16, 2003

is CatsCradle completely safe for respecting the code?

Webdugdet Jan 17, 2003

I use webbdudget to count words in html (and most Internet formats) and to download a website (static or not too dynamic) I use Webzip which is pretty cool.

WebBudget Jan 17, 2003

I don\'t know whether CatsCradle or Notetab are reliable in that respect, but when I was looking for a (free) word (and line) count program last year, I just couldn\'t find one that would reliably count translateable text in tags, Java code etc. WebBudget does all that and it can process and generate counting reports for entire websites, which is great when one has to translate a large number of HTML documents.

Merci à tous ! Jan 18, 2003

Je vous remercie tous pour ces précieux renseignements. C\'est quand on a un problème de ce genre qu\'on voit le dynamisme d\'une communauté comme ProZ.

Bon week-end,

John
