Veterinary Medicine 101 – Is there any such thing as a “Master of All Trades” and what does it mean for prospective translators?

This is a light-hearted and hopefully instructive introduction to Veterinary Medicine and its many and often unknown branches, and what they mean as a possible market for translators.
The challenges posed by having to deal with multiple species will be discussed, both as a veterinarian and as a translator, and fields such as public health, the food industry and the many ways it ties to human medicine will be also be discussed.

About the presenter

Tiago Neto has practiced Veterinary Medicine since 2005, having studied and trained in Portugal, the USA and Switzerland. He developed his career as a EN,ES>PT translator over the last five years, working almost exclusively in the veterinary medicine, medicine and pharmaceutic areas.

He has practiced large animal medicine and worked as an official veterinarian from 2005 until the end of 2014. During that time he had the chance to develop and implement his work in epidemiology, disease control and eradication and public health on a real world setting, while also providing specialized training in animal welfare for the food industry.
