Importing Source Documents in memoQ

Hello! I was wondering if someone can direct me as to how I can import a document in memoQ. However, it won't be a straight-forward import. There will be a few sections or columns in the source document that I do not want translated nor imported in memoQ.

How do I go about preparing my word doc and excel files so that those specific paragraphs will remain inside the document, but will NOT be imported in memoQ?

Your help is greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Update 4/10:
I just figured out how to do this in excel, but I don't know how to do this with word documents.

If you don't have other hidden text in the document, i.e. you can unhide everything with no complications, the simplest way of doing this is simply hiding the text you don't want translated.

If you have other hidden text in the document (for instance index entries), you can still hide the parts that you don't want translated, but I strongly recommend that you add some additional markup to those parts you hide (for instance, apply a highlight too), so that when the document is done you can easily do a search for highlighted-hidden contents and change its format to not hidden-not highlighted.

Give it a try!

Edited to add this clarification: of course you do the hiding BEFORE adding the document to memoQ, and do the unhiding AFTER you have exported the translated document from memoQ.
