I can't seem to find any project-wide Find/replace option in my memoQ 2014.

It is visible in the Find/replace dialog on this help page, but not in my software.

Was this function removed or is there a secret button somewhere to activate it?

Best regards,
Anna

Enable the Scope checkbox Nov 5, 2015

You should see the "Project" radio button when you enable the "Scope" checkbox in the Find/Replace dialog box.

Any 'find previous'? Nov 5, 2015

Interesting. Scope does it.

In Memsource, you can reverse the search direction, but I haven't found that in MemoQ. 'Previous' is often more useful than 'next' to find out how a word was previously translated.

Rather than lineally going back to other places using Find/Replace, I personally find that filtering by the little filter boxes is far more useful. I can quickly show all segments that contain the word/part word, and even keep filtering the results gradually if I so wish.

Little filter boxes? Nov 5, 2015

Where do you find these "little filter boxes"?

I can't see any options to filter for segment contents in any of the filter tabs.

Source & Target lines Nov 5, 2015

Just above the main columns. Add a couple of words in quotes (to find exact hits) and hit enter.

Filter Nov 5, 2015

Thanks. So that's part of the filter function. I agree it can more or less replace a 'find previous' function. Useful to know.

Just in case Nov 5, 2015

I guess you know that, but just in case... You can also use Ctrl+K to find the latest translation by words.

Thanks, and no, I didn't know that. CAT tools are immensely complex, and it takes years to get to know them just reasonably well. Or it will for me, in any case. The main manual is some thousand pages long, I believe. One could easily spend several months just studying one CAT tool, but as studying CAT tools in itself brings no revenue, I tend to just focus on the functions I need to get things done.

Totally agree Nov 5, 2015

This is how it works: the more functions you need, the more functions you get to know. The more functions you know, the more functions you need lol
And this is how translators become CAT-addictedicon_biggrin.gif
