Hi everyone,

Although I have never used the forum feature on ProZ.com, I thought that it might be helpful to share with fellow translators my experience with trying to purchase this new software (PractiCount & Invoice). I thought it looked like a very good tool for the translator.

I had previously downloaded the trial version and thought it looked like a good tool to have, especially for counting words in HTML documents.

In a discussion on the TCR chat list, I recommended it to a fellow member and I guess I convinced myself that it would be a good thing to buy!! icon_wink.gif

Alas, I wish I had never bothered!!!! Yesterday around 3:00 PM EST, I

filled out the form to purchase this software and gave my credit card

(which is a debit card, btw) info, etc. This was all accepted and I

received notice that the purchase had been approved.

I went to my debit card account on-line and noticed that the $59.95 had

been duly (and QUICKLY) charged.

I then received a message with this information (partial, not the entire email is

copied here):

Product Name: PractiCount & Invoice (Standard Edition)

Quantity: 1

Total: $59.95

Order Date and Time: April 25, 2003, 3:07 PM EST (-5 hours GMT)

Delivery Time: 24 Hours (from the time shown above)

Currently, the status of your order is Authorized. What this means is:

Your order has been successfully processed

Your credit card has been charged by RegSoft.com

A confirmation email was sent to ametrans@earthlink.net on April 25, 2003

at 3:12 PM EST

A copy of that email has been sent to the vendor to inform him that your

order was processed.

Now, I should mention that it is up to the VENDOR (owner/creator of PractiCount) to send the registration code. Until you receive that code, you CANNOT use the software! So you would think that the VENDOR would have the decency to either set up some automatic way to get the registration code to the

PURCHASER or send it himself in a timely fashion, now wouldn\'t you?

Whenever I have purchased software on-line, I have always received the

registration code right away, since of course they take the money RIGHT AWAY!!

So, now it is 8:30 PM EST and NO CODE!! Nothing! Not a word! Nothing!

I have written three emails to the vendor\'s \"support\" email, and have been totally

At first I thought it was because it was the weekend, so I

checked the email notifying me to see if it mentions \"BUSINESS DAYS\" but

NO! Just says 24 hours after you pay, which is totally UNACCEPTABLE anyway!!

So, I am going to try and get my money back, although I am really doubtful

that I will be able to. I don\'t need this software, really, and I am

soooooo angry that I do not want this vendor to have my hard-earned money!

I would just like to say that I certainly could never recommend purchasing this software due to the negligence shown by its creator.

I am truly appalled by this lack of concern for customers shown by the vendor!

I just thought I would like to let you know what you\'re in for if you try to purchase the software.

Hi, Laura.

I moved your thread from the Localization forum to the Money Matters forum, as it seems a more appropriate forum group for your posting and you might receive more contributions to it there.

PractiCount News Apr 29, 2003

Dear friends,

I would like to announce that the current address for PractiCount and Invoice has changed to http://www.practiline.net until we get our main websites (practiline.com and practicount.com) back in shape.

We are terribly sorry for the inconvenience our temporary forced absence during the last week might have caused you. We are taking all the measures and precautions for such not to happen again.

Best regards,

Maxim Siefer
