Is there a statutory limit as to how much you can charge in late fees? I am having some problems with a client being over 30 days late. They will not "accept" my late fee. Any suggestions?

UK/European legislation Apr 7, 2009

In the UK there is specific legislation (the Late Payment of Commercial Debts Act 1998, as amended by an EU directive) (see but I'm not sure whether the US has an equivalent, I'm afraid.

What does your contract say? Apr 7, 2009

If you have an agreement with the client specifying the late fees, and they signed it, they are obligated to pay. If there is no such agreement, or the agreement does not contain such a clause, I am afraid you do not have a chance.
