Some customers expect/request a lower rate that includes considering the number of times words are repeated. I am interested in hearing who takes repetitions into account and how it is done.
Thanks

Hello Berelis

Do you have a CAT tool? CAT tools such as Trados give data on repetitions ... Try using Forum Search at left to find more information and discussions. Here is one thread to start with: http://www.proz.com/forum/money_matters/140456-advice_in_respect_of_rates_while_translating_with_trados.html

Hope this helps.

Lesley

It is generally acceptable to apply repetition discounts if the sentences repeat, but not if only the individual words repeat. Those not willing to grant discounts for repeating sentences may sometimes be willing to give discounts for repeating paragraphs. It is up to you how you do it, but sentence-level is most common.

Consider your hourly rate Jul 22, 2009

Just remember to ensure that the combination of your "normal" rate and your "discounted" rate for repetitions still add up to the hourly rate you aim for. I count repetitions per segment with WordFast, but have agreed to an agency's TRADOS based calculation when supplied with the analysis. Obviously, one bumps up the normal rate to compensate.
