I got an offer from a French company and their pricing terms go like this:

.. As ours is an off shore company, your pay will be
free of all taxes. You will be paid in cash, in the
currency of your choice. For security reasons this
requires the utmost discretion in relation to the tax
office and your present employer. If you would so wish
we can put the money directly onto a foresaid bank
account.

.. Cash payments will be sent to you by post in a
discreet and protected envelope to avoid any
tampering. The post office will inform us of the safe
arrival of the mail.

What do you say?

Fishy indeed!
I would just ignore it.

If the offer was sent through your ProZ.com profile, please forward the message to me.

Best regards, Ralf

Sending cash through post in an envelope is illegal in India Nov 18, 2003

And in Pakistan as well, as after all both the countries inherited their Criminal Procedure Code from the English. Hence utmost care is required in this case.

It is illegal in Pakistan too and I have never ever heard any company offering to pay this way. I didn't even bother to asnwer them. They also don't have any proper email account just a yahoo account, that one is always a clear sign that the agency is not that genuine.

Sorry, I couldn't check this forum for some time. As regards to such offers, you should refuse them. Payment only by legal means. If anybody confirms an agreement with you, you should not only ask his/her full contact details but also track his/her IP address. Just match the IP address with his location and you will come to know whether the person concerned is located at the mentioned place or not. Don't forget to check the telephone numbers too. Better to ask a PO via fax for a safer side.

N. Siddiqui
