Hi all,

I just thought I would post some information (in English) about the European small claims procedure for amounts up to €2000:

http://www.hmcourts-service.gov.uk/infoabout/claims/eu_cross_border_claim/index.htm

which eventually takes you here:

http://ec.europa.eu/justice_home/judicialatlascivil/html/sc_filling_uk_en.htm

I've recently filled out one of these forms for collecting a debt in France (I'm based in Sweden). Fortunately I was paid shortly after sending the form to the court, but I'd be interested in knowing if anyone has taken a case further.

It seems like a simple way of solving many of the debt collection problems that we see all too often on this forum!

Best,

Clare

Very useful Clare Sep 3, 2010

Very useful- thanks Clare. I may need it this very day, to chase one particularly recalcitrant non-payer !

Good to be able to help... Sep 3, 2010

...especially as it feels as if not very many people know about this system!

Needless to say.... Sep 3, 2010

... I'm having trouble accessing the Italian-language versions of the forms.

I think I filled in the Swedish version (as that's where I am) which was then automatically "transferred" to the French version after it had been filled in. I think if you fill in the English version, there should be an option to transfer or translate the form to the correct language afterwards. I printed out and sent a hard copy to France.
