Hi,

I'd be interested to know what te average rates are for Italian to English (general) translation going by number of characters (inc spaces)?
Thanks for your time,
Ellen

You may like to refer to this schedule of (reported) average rates: http://www.proz.com/?sp=rates_view&rates_view_pair=ita_eng found under the Tools tab > Community Rates

You won't get Users here to agree on what is acceptable or average so, despite its limitations, I suggest that this is the best information available.

The costs are per word. I use a rule of thumb that 1 Italian "cartella" (usually 1500 keystrokes including spaces) has 207 words on average. You can check that in your specific text (if it is in Word or can be copied and pasted into Word) by using Word's wordcount function, which counts characters, words, lines and paragraphs.

Thanks Russell, that clears up the 'cartella' thing for me!
