Hello everyone,

I'm wondering how much to charge for single-page certificates (birth, maternity leave etc) from Japanese >English /Greek.
If I go by word count (e.g. 80 words), the total comes up a bit short, IMHO. I sense that there must be a flat rate or minimum.
Also, I'm referring to a document handed to me via a translation agency and not directly by the customer.

Many Thanks

Regardless of how much you should charge, the best unit for estimating costs is per page, not per word. You might also want to factor in the complexity of the formatting, and whether additional services such as notarization are required. An agency may take some of this work off of your hands (ask what level/type of formatting they would prefer) and they will not want to pay as much in order to get their cut, but make sure that you make your target hourly rate when all is said and done.
