Do I have to collect US state sales tax from clients in my state?
I am in Missouri, US. What I found is only "tangible property" is subject to state sales tax. So translation service, which is "intangible property", is not subject to state sales tax. However, if you print translated documents or save them on CD, and mail it to a client in MO, you have to collect sales tax. You only collect sales tax to customer in MO, not other state. Is this right?

I'm in Missouri too, and I am not collecting sales tax because I am selling my services, in other words I am not selling paper, floppies or CDs. I am licensed as an interpreter and translator, not as a retailer. HTH Sarah

Your are providing a service not a "tangible" product, so you do not need to worry about collecting sales tax. The vendors who you buy paper, CDs and other office products from collects the sales tax on those "tangible" items as you buy them.
