Prices of translation
Thread poster: IreneAguadoGall

Good morning, I'm a student of Translation and I wonder what would be the price per word of a website translation, also the price of images locating and the price of one hour of documentation. Please, help me!
Thank you

How long is a string? Dec 13, 2014

Depends on your experience, the document type, requirements for certain tool, scope (wordcount), size of the website, your preferences, the client's preferences, your level of administration, source language, target language, how fast you work, your quality requirements, the client's quality requirements, the country you live in (costs for living+taxation levels), and your negotiation skills. For a start.

Even more important Dec 13, 2014

It depends very much on the language pair. Unless you complete the basics of your profile (languages, location, specialisations...) it's very difficult to advise you.

However, there are "community rates" published on this site which give a fair indication, and a tool to help you calculate how much you need to earn to maintain your desired standard of living. For most jobs other than translation it's normal to charge per hour.
