Hi, I'm new in the website and I would like to know how much should I charge for an MSDS that it's 14 pages long. This is the first time I translate one. I hope you can help me. Thanks in advance!

Sorry... May 26, 2016

...but what is a MSDS?

14 pages long doesn't mean very much, though.

Word Count May 26, 2016

I would just go by the word count. If it is a Microsoft Word document, it is easy to know the total number of words by a couple of clicks.

Charge per word, and use a high word rate, since MSDSs contain many specialist terms and phrases.

You can get an idea of what other translators report that they charge at http://search.proz.com/?sp=pfe/rates

Community rates page does not work for fields of expertise May 27, 2016

Just a comment to add to John's advice: Unfortunately the filtering for special fields of expertise does not work on the ProZ page he linked to; you always get the same average rate.

Your rate for any specialized text.

A little help: check the EU directives and regulations, you can probably find most titles of the standard form already available in your language, including the text of H, R phrases.

Which, in my language (Romanian), are already translated as national templates - if these specialist terms and phrases form the so-called R and S phrases.
