I am a translator myself, but I translate Nordic languages in the Nordic countries. I realise that this also has different pricing compared with other geographies and language pairs.

What is the current market rate for translation of "General" texts from ENGLISH into FRENCH? The volume is about 150.000 words.

Thanks for any feedback.

I can't respond to what current pricing might be, but my bottom price is $CAD 0.15 per word. Volume generally does not play a role since the last word must be translated as carefully as the first, but other factors in any translation can influence the final fee.

Texts, general or specialised, are either properly written or badly written. Suitable to the audience targeted or a waste of money compared to using free translation tools.

Proz.com has a feature whereby rates stated by users are averaged for each language pair. I don't know how accurately it reflects reality.

If a translation agency assigned your project to me (translation only) with a 30-day credit term or less, I'd charge less than €20,000 and I would deliver within 3 months.
