How to "translate" a fee per page to a fee per word on the Polish market. Thread poster: Natalia Kreczmar

Hello, I have been asked to state my fees per word, while I have always worked per page of 1800 characters. Could you please give me some hints: what is the average standard number of words per page assumed in the proffession? Perhaps someone from the Polish market could tell me what the standard rates per word are. I usually take 30 PLN per standard page of 1800 characters. THANK YOU for your help. | | | Kirill Semenov Ukraine Local time: 10:22 Member (2004) English to Russian + ... The ratio may differ depending on languages and subects | Apr 28, 2005 |
I think the number of words per page differs greatly depending on a language and/or a subject of the text. The best way is for you is to take some sample pages which you have translated and to calculate the ratio using, say, MS Word statistics. In this way you will get the average you need. The more samples are calculated, the better, of course. | | | I have done this, but I wondered, whether there is a "standard"number widely accepted.... | Apr 28, 2005 |

[Edited at 2005-04-28 10:56] 30 PNL = 7,5 EUR (if we count PLN/EUR 4,0 to simplify) 7,5 / 250 = 0,03 EUR/WORD 30 PNL = 7,1 EUR (if we count PLN/EUR 4,2 as it's now) 7,5 / 250 = 0,028 EUR/WORD WHERE the magda's 0,048 EUR/WORD COME FROM???? Daniele PS: It's better not to say out of Poland that "polish fee" can be 0,03 When we express in polish zloty for "long page" (1800) the "others" cannot understand that it's so few... | | | Magda Dziadosz Poland Local time: 09:22 Member (2004) English to Polish + ... Daniele calculated it correctly. Anyway, the page is 220 or 250 words, you need to divide your price per page by number of words and then apply currency exchange rate if you need price in other currency. I edited my post again. Magda | | | THANK YOU ALL! Now I know better:) | Apr 29, 2005 |

you should take as much as you can per word and forget all the calculations which migh range from 250 to 350 word per page or even more (I mean PolishEnglish translations). Also because rates in Poland considerably differ from the countries where fees per word are applied.
