Read the company email from Taiwan:

You can save your comments to yourself about how much we pay. Suggest you keep looking for jobs from India and Malaysai too.(better than Taiwan according to his company low rate(0.025 - 0.03))

There are thousand of translators out there and trust me, another one more or less makes no difference to this company (Oh, really?). Your attitude sucks, period! Guess translation must have made you rich for you to tell be all this crap.

Everyone, it says it all!

Agencies come and agencies go... Nov 9, 2005

You could use their own argument against them. There are thousands of agencies out there too...

I have just been to a jubilee celebration for one of them with a very different attitude.

They try to attract the best translators, and both clients and translators stay with them for years. They're not going out of business in the foreseable future.

OK, their rates are not princely, but you get paid on the dot. They are good at 'rounding up', paying for editing and preparing the text, and they give reasonable rates for fuzzy matches. They are definitely at the better end of the scale.

They contribute to 'knowledge sharing' and building up resources, and they help at once if there are problems.

If we don't make demands and educate clients, we can't deliver quality. If you only pay peanuts, you may only get the stupidest monkeys to work for you...

Happy translating!

If they don't even know enough English to put out well written, error free business letters, how will they succeed at selling customers? It is all too easy to present a shiny exterior in these days of the Internet. That shiny exterior seems to hide a real dirt hole.
