Hi there,

Has anyone ever wired/sent money/a check from a euro zone country (e.g. Germany, France, Italy, etc.) to Egypt? If so, is it very expensive? And which details do I need from the recipient so that he gets the money? Do they also work with something like Swift/Bic/IBAN and for which (German) bank forms have a field? How do you usually handle this?

Thanks for any advice/hints how to best proceed (withouth using PayPal though, I'm no friend of this system...).

Best regards,

Ordinary Modus Operandi Feb 14, 2006

The praxis is normal

You need the

- Beneficiary full name,
- Bank Name and Adress
- Bank phone number (if you're sending money from USA, that's not your case)
- Beneficiary Account Number
- Beneficiary International Account Number (IBAN)
- Bank Swift Code.

Even if you'd like to, you can't send money to Egypt, and to almost all Arabic countries through Paypal (they don't have correspondents).

You can through Moneybookers.

This is the way I recieve payments from my EU-based clients Feb 14, 2006

Hi Tanja,

I have a client in Belgium and she sends my payments through bank transfers to my account. To transfer my payment, the client needs the following information:

Beneficiary name (my name)
Bank name
Bank swift code
Internatonal bank account number, and nothing more.
Just ask your recepient to provide you with these information and you can do a bank transfer through your bank. As for fees, my client pays 15 euros for one transaction.

This transfer takes 3-4 business days.

I have also another client in London paying me in the same way, but I don't know how much transfer fees they pay.

Please note that PayPal does not cover Egypt and most of Middle East countries, but MoneyBookers does.

Best regards,

Thanks for your input... Feb 14, 2006

Hi all,

Thank you for your input/suggestions, it does not sound as complicated/expensive as I thought it might be.

No IBAN Feb 15, 2006

Hello Tanja,

You only need Benficiary name, Account No., and SWIFT code, whereas there won't be any IBAN (in most Egyptian banks as far as I know).

Kind regards,

Ahmad Hassaballa
