Hi,

Just wondering - does anyone know free or paid software specially made for free-lance translators or small agencies? Is there such at all?

I mean there are many kinds of accounting software, but it is either very general or made for big companies (with many things an individual freelancer does not need at all - like warehouse stock register, wages, production costs, etc.). Such might be good for companies with some 50 people of administrative staff and 500 factory workers, but not for a freelancer...Other (like free) softs are very primitive (simple things like "+" and "-")...So, in my situation, Excel is the best solution so far.

Any ideas or info?

I personally used something called Quickbooks, a program made for Windows but there's also a version which runs on Mac. It is very good for small business in general and I used it as a bookeeper for a restaurant and for my farm, although I am not using it for translation purposes (yet). It costs somewhere under $500, I think. You can also print checks with it. If you just google the name, the official website will come up.
