Hi
Do you know a cheaper way to transfer money to a German bank account. I have to pay one person and the only way she recieves money is via bank transfer. I live in Lithuania but I have a bank account in US and a paypal account, is it possible to send through the internet without help of our local bank? (the amount is so small that the international bank transfer fee almost doubles the amount that I need to spend.

You can. But if the transfer is not in Euros, as is likely to be the case for a transfer from Lithuania, the bank is entitled to levy transfer and conversion charges which, as Natuke says, may be disproportionate to the transfer amount.

I live in Estonia and I can only say that it is because we pay for such generosity of German banks :0)
