Debt Collection - California

Dear colleagues:

I have a former client in Palo Alto, California who has been promising to pay since April 2006 but has not come up with a cent yet and owes several thousands of dollars.

It is apparently a small company that relies heavily on investors and has promised to pay "as soon as its investors" have made their commitments.

This has gone too far too long now and I'd like to place it in the hands of a very effective collection agency or attorney who is local, that is, in or near Palo Alto so that he can get things done locally.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a collection agency or attorney in that area?

Thanks very much!

BBB? Mar 22, 2007

I just looked up the Better Business Bureau, and they seem to have a dispute resolution division:
Don't know anything about that, but maybe you could contact them for advice.

Perhaps the mention of filing a complaint with the BBB would get your client moving? If not, follow through!

Also contact the Palo Alto Chamber of Commerce and City License Office Mar 23, 2007

You might also "localize" your efforts to capture the attention and possible favorable response (payment to you for services provided) by that deadbeat firm.

Contact the Palo Alto Chamber of Commerce and the City Taxation and License Office which issues annual licenses to operate a business.

If that firm in Palo Alto is also a member of the regional chapter or affiliate of the ATA, you might also advise that entity and request its interest and concern.
