site promotion ... too far at the cost of translators?

Here is a classic example of site promotion and, perhaps, driving it a bit too far at the cost of the translators. One of the members so aptly wrote as follows:

it\'s great because proz is promoting the proz site as \"..here you have \"live\" experts answering your questions, and they do it really fast too...\" It makes porz sound like a place where the \"live\" translators are sitting inhouse someplace and having coffee and getting paid for answering this. \".

I think it is a kind of abuse of the services rendered by the members of proz.com.

But some member would, perhaps, say: you see, PROZ has link relationships with other sites and so it happens. Links at the cost of translators?

But I would almost say \" hey your slip is showing\".

hello,Carole Muller

Thanks for that piece of information, and I have read it, quite eyeopening.

It is high time that translators should learn to read between the lines

..and if they don't? Dec 13, 2001

Dear Telesforo,

...and if they don\'t, we will know who does and who doesn\'t, and that information too is valuable and contains commercial potential for those who know... (...to use it to the benefit of the client and of the professional standards of the trade, this time).

That is exactly what the \'pro\' level questions are.

To unsubscribe from the \'easy\' section, go to \'edit email preferences\' in your profile page.

Some people like to ask easy questions, some people like to answer them. The \'easy\' option will therefore remain.
