Jeg oversetter en tekst som dreier seg om 2. verdenskrig. Et av avsnittene handler om Kværner Brug, som dyrket frem tobakk ved hjelp av investeringer fra de ansatte. De ansatte som var interessert, betalte 50 kr hver.

Var dette en stor, liten eller "rimelig" sum penger under krigen?

"Utvalgets flertall har anslått at samlet tap etter kroneverdien i 1946/47 utgjør kr. 6.538.200. Etter en skjønnsmessig helhetsvurdering foreslås at beløpet forhøyes til kr. 8.000.000. Basert på dagens kroneverdi (mai 1997) blir dette beløpet kr. 108.800.000. Flertallet foreslår at beløpet avrundes til 110 millioner kroner."

Dette burde vel si at 50 kroner rett etter krigen tilsvarte litt over 700 kroner i dag. Utfra levestandard den gangen kan en vel likevel ganske sikkert si at 50 kroner var ganske mye penger for "vanlig ansatte".
