Google hast just launched his brand new browser. It is open source. What is open source exactly?

Apparently, any developper (for example a 10 year old child and a 80 year old pensioner) would be able to improve the tool in a collaborative and open way.

This could be possible also for translations (example of the "free" translation of facebook or many "pro bono" translations) process improving, etc.

Indeed what for one person is his job, for another is his hobby. What other fields/professions do you think this could be applied? Have you examples?

Is there necessary a new way of produce order in this new world? How?

What do you think of some world referendums? Are they possible? Think for example of a referendum about climate change. A referendum about nuclear waste handling. A referendum about energy matters. Global matters need global decision-makers. Global decision-makers must be backed by global democratic processes. This is today technically possible thank to Internet. Why not do it?

In a few years is possible that your routine is:
wake up
think about what are you going to do that day
Internet: i-phone of course
Decide your vote and voting for the referendum of the day at:
-global
-continent
-national
-local level
Breakfast.
Sport
2 hours collaboration (not work any more)
2 hours sport
2 hours novel reading
2 hours playing with the children
2 hours talking to your partner

Unfortunately they came up with this idea 40 years ago. Hurry up! Membership is limited.

Confidentiality or more sales? Sep 5, 2008

What do you think a company needs more?
Do your really think that in today´s open world, the patent system is interesting any more?
What do you think is more important for a company:

-confidentiality
-more sales, worldwide

?

Would companies give up confidentiality in favour of more sales/cheaper processes?

There are world problems, world corporations, world citycens Sep 5, 2008

Why is there no world government?
Why is there no world law?

I think this would be the first logical question someone outside the world would ask if would be able to speak with people of the world.

Think about you. You has been said insistently that you "are" Belgian, or Russian, or Australian or anything else. But you really are just a citizen of the world. Feel that, smell that, you are a citizen of the world. You can be proud of everything the world has to offer. It is a conforting feeling a new experience, a new feeling.

Citizen of the world....

I think for many of you this could be obvious (we are translators), but for many could be a new way of thinking

Book writting? No, forum harvesting Sep 5, 2008

Don´t you think that there would be possible to write books, and very good books, just cutting and pasting fora in Internet? Is there copyright for that?

History is important. We can learnt a lot from the past.

I think the future is like the cathedrals. Who has the copyright or the patents for a cathedral? Who made a cathedral?
And today we have the beautiful examples of Cologne, Reims or Burgos.

Let's translate something useful Sep 5, 2008

We could start with a medical dicitionary and translate texts such as:

A Dictionary of Psychology | Date: 2001

flight of ideas n.

A form of thought disorder in which a rapid flow of thoughts occur, flitting from one topic to another, usually with transitions based on arbitrary conceptual or verbal links. It is often seen in a manic episode and occasionally in certain forms of schizophrenia.

Dear Felipe,

Why don't you just write everything you want to say in one post?

Have a good weekend and don't work too hard!

Regards,
Niraja

Could we have an end to this rant, please? Sep 5, 2008

It's a long time since I've seen such an unsubstantiated collection of juvenile opinions and hope it will be a very long time indeed before I see anything like this again.

I have some friends who are grown-ups but still did not have the time to examine the facts of life, so I have to hear this kind of stuff at times. I also fail to see the point of this posting, honestly.
