Amazing Jan 6, 2009

I am just wondering how they will use ALT + HOME and ALT + END combination in Trados (smile)

Hmmm Jan 6, 2009

I guess I could get used to "no keyboard" (although there actually IS a keyboard on the screen), but at this point, since I'm a fast typist, it seems the wheel would be slower. Also, I don't really see a whole lot of difference between touching a key with your finger and pointing at it with a wheel...am I missing something here?

disappointed Jan 6, 2009

I thought it just like the one I was thinking of, a tube with one button just when you turn it on a visible laser screen and keyboard appear and when turn off they disappear, and then you can put in your jacket pocket.
Thanks

Mohammed Shakir

Edit: You have to admire the quality of the footage though - it looks absolutely real!

Great parody... Jan 6, 2009

For the first few seconds I thought it was about speech recognition until the wheel appeared!

Does it make any difference? Jan 6, 2009

I totally agree with Amy, is there any difference between typing and "screen touching"? Maybe you safe space, but practically it seems the same to me.

Of course it's a hoax! Jan 6, 2009

Come on folks, don't be so gullible! How could anybody really claim that typing would be easier using this method?

The big give-away is at the end when the guy says that the next generation will be four ounces lighter, due to the "lack of screen, hard drive or wheel".

If anybody is still not convinced, try looking up "the Onion" in Wikipedia!

Cheers,
Geoff

So sad.... Jan 6, 2009

....that we translators belong to the "people who use keyboards" and therefore are "standing in the way of human progress". To me, the whole concept of the wheel Mac (seeing it in action) is not only stupid, but Jobs' attitude is insulting. Sorry folks! I'm not very fond of this "breakthrough". :-/

Nice hoax Jan 6, 2009

But seriously, speech recognition could be inbuilt in every machine.
What happened to handwriting recognition? Anybody remember the Apple Newton?
Regards
Heinrich
