I've just had a radio programme on in the background, and it mentioned (what I thought was an interesting snippet) that originally lloyds Bank in Britain was set up in the 19th century as 'the drovers' bank', to service the 'drovers' or long distance herdsman who herded cattle from the Welsh mountains, where they were reared, to London and other parts of England.
