Off topic: Size of the Global Translation Industry

Could anybody tell me the size of the global translation (not localization) industry. Thanks in advance for your help.

"by the end of 2006 the worldwide human translation market will account for $5.7 billion, and the machine translation for $117 million. The software and web localization markets will account for $3.5 billion and $3 billion, respectively."

Take those figures with a grain of salt. As early as in 1999, an ATA President was saying: "Translation in the U.S. today is, according to industry analysts, a $7 billion industry, part of a global commerce worth between $11 and $18 billion." www.atanet.org/chronicle/president_message_1999.htm

It is estimated that the world translation market is growing by 15 to 25% annually and will reach $7 billion by the year 2000.
