A friend of mine told me about this book store. Here's the URL: www.betterworldbooks.com/

They ship worldwide for $3.97. This is of interest to expats like myself looking for books in English. Amazon charges around $12 per book to Brazil, which can work out all right if you find books for a few pennies (which they have), but this new site is another, and possibly better option. I haven't tried it out yet, but will very soon. Just wanted to share this info with my colleagues.

Thank you, Amy Oct 3, 2009

Thank you so much for posting this. It looks like a great place for dealing with one of my two major addictions. (Old movies, music and TV shows now basically resolved by other means).

That is fantastic! Oct 3, 2009

Thank you for sharing this link. I've been looking for an easy and cost-saving way to get hold of - more, more, more! - English literature. No need to rely on the big A anymore.

Marie

Free Shipping Worldwide Oct 4, 2009

The Book Depository, an online bookstore in the UK ships books free worldwide.

Here's the link
www.thebookdepository.co.uk

The service is pretty good - I usually get my books within a week (and I live in NZ).

Click on "About us", then, on the left-hand side, click on FAQ.

Indeed. I made an Amazon order (to Amazon in Germany) very recently and compared the prices with those of TheBookDepository. The latter's prices are about 10% lower than those of Amazon in Germany for exactly the same books! Amazing. I would have saved nearly 20 euros in my last order. So another situation in which we keep buying at a place just because we are used to it.

Thanks for the hint Kathrin!

They not only ship cheaply to the rest of the world, but free to the US, which is better than the US$25 minimum purchase to get free shipping from Amazon in the US. Thanks a lot for such a great link!
