Hi folks,

For all you country music humor fans out there, here's a funny youtube video for you to enjoy. And by coincidence I'm posting this on April 1st!

"If My Nose Was Running Money" By Aaron Wilburn

I have a question about one of the jokes.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=egCeIwjIuZM

"If I shot you when I wanted to, I'd be out by now"

First question: Is this what he says?

Second: I'm not sure I get what seems to me like the joke he's trying to make.

Anyone?

I haven't yet seen the video, but:

If I'd shot you when I wanted to (if I'd shot you back then) I'd be out by now (I would have served my mandatory jail sentence for shooting you, and would by now have been released from prison and returned to my everyday life, without you!) I guess he regrets not doing away with the person he's talking to, because he figures his life would be just great now, the prison term for the murder well behind him.

Does that help?

Yes! That's exactly the meaning.

Given that you haven't seen the video, and he makes a lot of such jokes about being in the same house with his spouse and things aren't going well at all, I had pictured something like she was barring him from going out the door (of their house) and he wanted to shoot her.

Thanks.
