Hi All,

I wonder if anybody could help with some clues as to how to find a storyteller in the London area or the South East of England.

I want to host a small gathering of people for a storytelling evening as a present for my partner's next birthday in January.

Any help appreciated.

Best,
Myriam

What a nice idea! Dec 3, 2004

Thank you very much Myriam and Johanna for bringing this up and providing links about this fascinating topic - I didn't know professional storytellers still existed!
I live in Germany and wonder if there is anything of the like around here...

Have a great day!
Laura

Local council? Dec 3, 2004

Hi Myriam!
It is a lovely ideaicon_smile.gif Johanna's ideas are good. How about trying your local council too? In areas with historical monuments, the council employs people to tell traditional tales in a traditional manner (mostly actors who are trained to do so). However, they also employ people for festivals, at libraries, for schools, colleges, adult education, etc., so if you contact the arts and libraries/museums/culture department, they may be able to point you in the right direction.
Good luck,
