Very useful about bank and local holidays around the globe...though I'm not very sure what they mean with "currency and/or stock exchange holiday" (specifically for April 14th in California).

Good luck!

Pablo

Because they are religious holidays, they are not "official" holidays. (Yes, I know Chrsitmas is also a religious holiday but, for some reason, this one reached a special status). Government offices will not close, and I do not think banks and general commerce will, either. For example, some private catholic schools might give the day(s) off to students, and some companies might let their catholic employees take one of those days (maybe both) off, if they desire but, for general purposes, these days are like any other working day.

Hi-

no they are not. ( I live in California). There are very few holidays and regular vacation is only 10 working days/year!
(unless you have worked for a company for a long time).

thanks to Pablo for the interesting link

unless income tax filing deadline is a holiday Apr 4, 2006

Seeing that April 15th falls on a Saturday this year, the deadline is automatically extended to the 17th. Considering all they take from us, they should at least make it a holiday all on its own! (also in California)
