1. the sound of any acoustic guitar
2. the sound of rain falling on my roof when I am still in bed (and I don't have to get up for at least another hour or so)

Hate:
1. The sound of furniture being dragged all around the house
2. The sound of a hammer hitting the walls at 8 in the morning on sundays
3. The sound of motorbikes way too customized

Hate: the sound of someone else's lawnmower when I'm trying to relax in the garden.
Love: the sound of my own lawnmower when I've been trying to relax in the garden and a radio is blaring away in someone else's garden.

I was in the Egyptian desert for a week. The silence there was so thick it made your head spin. It was marvellous.
But I am lucky, since I live in a very quiet area.
As for my dislikes, I agree that scratchy sounds (fingernails on a blackboard) are horrible!

1. The Chicco talking farm, as it repeats mindlessly all day things like "questa è la farfalla verde".
2. The crash as the talking farm is thrown onto the floor.
3. That split second of silence when a child has fallen over and opens his mouth to cry but is so shocked and enraged that no sound comes out.
4. The ear-splitting howl that follows number 3.

I hate car alarms going off incessantly while I'm working. Like today... grrrrr!!!
and I love the sound of a big storm and lashing rain at night while I'm snug as a bug at home

- the sound of the sea (any kind - from the roaring crash against rocks at night, to the soft splish-splash of the calm sea on the midday beach)
- birds waking up in the garden (especially the blackcap), when it's the only sound around
- muted sounds in a snowy landscape
Hate:
- kids bickering
- Adults shouting
- Football commentators commenting

City noise, which we barely notice but clearly feel its absence when we go out of town.
Love:
Wind in trees, skylark in the sky and, occasionally, a propeller aircraft (must be barely heard, no jets).
The best loved sound is my neighbour hammering his electric guitar on someone's buzzing lawn mower, in order to break the mower's alarm, at 8:00 AM, on Sunday.

You hit the nail here, Sofia (I presume, right? Sorry, if I'm wrong with your name) - forget the wind chimes, I love it when my son plays his toys and/or sings when he thinks nobody's listening.
But my bet on fingernails scratching a wooden surface as the most hated sound remains unchanged.

3. Mini-blinds rustling - he would sit on a window sill, smile wide (no kidding) and drag his paw up and down mini-blinds if his breakfast is too late.
