I\'ve felt like that myself too many times. When I\'m stressed out, I like doing yoga, listening to music, walking aimlessly, spending a day in a spa, going to the movies, visiting family, traveling, watching the flat Pampas and the endless horizon...

I have a book I treasure --Slow-down Therapy, that I bought in a trip to Philadelphia.

I selected some \"tips\" or comments to read when you are exhausted, too stressed, fed up.

Ejoy it!

SLOW-DOWN THERAPY

*Allow yourself time to be lazy and unproductive. Rest isn\'t a luxury; it\'s a necessity.

*Create a place in your home... at work... in your heart... where you can go for quiet and recollection. You deserve it.

*Taste your food. God gives it to delight as well as to nourish.

*Set your own pace. When someone is pushing you, it\'s OK to tell them they\'re pushing.

*Quit planning how you\'re going to use what you know, learn, possess. God\'s gifts just are, be grateful and their purpose will be clear.

*Rest on your laurels. They bring comfort whatever their size, age, or condition.

*Talk slower. Talk less. Don\'t talk. Communication isn\'t measured by words.

*Take time just to think. Action is good and necessary, but it\'s fruitful only if we muse, ponder, and mull.

*Take a day off alone; make a retreat. You can learn from monks and hermits without becoming one.

*Work with your hands. It frees the mind.

*Take time to wonder. Without wonder, life is merely existence.

*Count your blessings, one at a time and slowly.

Regards,

Valeria

I have taken notes Valeria. There will be plenty of time during my next three on-leave weeks to set up a slower pace.

Then he pulled out a one-gallon, wide-mouthed mason jar and set it on a

table in front of him. Then he produced about a dozen fist-sized rocks and

carefully placed them, one at a time, into the jar. When the jar was filled to

the top and no more rocks would fit inside, he

asked, \"Is this jar full?\" Everyone in the class said, \"Yes.\"

Then he said, \"Really?\" He reached under the table and pulled out a bucket of

gravel. Then he dumped some gravel in and shook the jar causing pieces of

gravel to work themselves down into the spaces between the big

rocks.

Then he smiled and asked the group once more, \"Is the jar full?\" By this time

the class was onto him. \"Probably not,\" one of them answered. \"Good!\" he

replied. And he reached under the table and brought outa

bucket of sand. He started dumping the sand in and it went into all the

spaces left between the rocks and the gravel. Once more he asked the question,

\"Is this jar full?\"

\"No!\" the class shouted. Once again he said, \"Good!\" Then he grabbed a

pitcher of water and began to pour it in until the jar was filled to the

brim. Then he looked up at the class and asked, \"What is the point of this

illustration?\"

One eager beaver raised his hand and said, \"The point is, no matter how

full your schedule is, if you try really hard, you can always fit some more

things into it!\"

\"No,\" the speaker replied, \"that\'s not the point. The truth this illustration

teaches us is: If you don\'t put the big rocks in first, you\'ll never get them in

at all.\"

The title of this letter is The \"Big Rocks\" of Life. What are the big

rocks in your life? A project that YOU want to accomplish? Time with your

loved ones? Your faith, your education, your finances? A cause? Teaching or

mentoring others? Remember to put these BIG ROCKS in first or you\'ll never get

them in at all.

So, tonight or in the morning when you are reflecting on this short

story, ask yourself this question: What are the \"big rocks\" in my life or

business? Then, put those in your jar.

I know a different version of Jacek's story.... Oct 22, 2002

Instead of water, the guy pours beer into the jar after the sand. The moral of the story? No matter how full your life is, there\'s always room for a beer.

Thanks Oct 22, 2002

Hi,

Just to tell you all that you are all great to have around in PROZ community.

Valeria and Jacek\'s contributions are really good. For some time now, I always keep 30 minutes for myself before going to sleep. I find that either reading a book or watching some nice film on TV (short episode) before going to bed helps to relax and stop thinking about that pressing job we always have.

Cheers

Mónica

Never mind Oct 22, 2002

Hi,

Although the topics might not match it doesn\'t really matter as the general idea behind both was to get some fresh air into our minds and relax a bit. I think it did just the trick, don\'t you?

Cheers to all (and all the best from rainy Portugal)

Mónica
