Hi, Have you been stumbling around when talking to an American about fuel consumption of a car? Can you tell him/her what your car devours in MPG terms (Miles Per Gallon)? If you can't, then goto: http://www.easysurf.cc/cnver4.htm#mgtolpck3 and find out how to have a clue. Example: 7,7 litres/100 km = 30.55 MPG (my best Volvo 945 value) ... There are lots of conversion tools/sites availble, but I've never come across one that could convert such data. Thanks! | | | swisstell Italy Local time: 00:19 German to English + ... Thank you, Mats | Dec 10, 2006 |
one of the things I am constantly converting in my head, just like that Fahrenheit and Celsius thing which I have down to "an art" with memory aids such as 61=16 and 82=28. When will they ever go metric around here!? | |

My husband and I spent a bit less than a week walking the West Highland Way a few years back (before we had kids) and after a hard day's walking our evenings were spent enjoying a drop of the good stuff in one of the fine Scottish pubs along the way. At the end of the hike (150km) we worked out our "fuel consumption" in liters (of beer) per hundred kilometers. Thanks to the link we can work it out in miles per gallon too! On the other hand, I don't know if you are familiar with the following one: http://garlock.eu.com/UK/useful.php I have found it quite useful, because of all the technical documents I usually have to translate. It is actually a free program you have to download and install in your PC. It quickly converts all kinds of volume, length, weight, etc. measures from/to both measuring systems. And if you also need to know about fraction-decimal calculations, I also recommend this one: http://www.csgnetwork.com/decimal2fractwecalc.html Cheers, Ivette ▲ Collapse | | | Mats Wiman Sweden Local time: 00:19 Member (2000) German to Swedish + ... Thanks ICL for a super tool. (Miles to the gallon was missing though) The term definition section was also a find. One example: CLOSED LOOP: In a control system, a type of control that has an input signal and a feedback of the result of the input signal which is used to modulate the input signal automatically. See OPEN LOOP.
