Could anyone tell me if the automobile cigarette lighters in Germany, France and Spain would be the same as in the US? I mean in terms of being able to plug in a cell phone adapter or other device? Thanks in advance!

You might consider this one Aug 2, 2007

Normally I would have enough charge to stay throught the day and use wall adapter in Europe so I can't tell you for sure re. any adapter, but take a look - they ship all over the world, must be truly universal

Use your car to charge any devices (digital cameras, PDAs, mobile phones, USB accessories and more) that can rely on USB for power! This adapter plugs into your car's cigarette lighter jack to become a powered USB port.

Yes, they should Aug 2, 2007

I am from Italy and I live currently in US, and I have been able to charge my italian cellphone here on a US car, using the adapter I bought and carried from Italy.

So I think that it should be no problem.

battery voltage Aug 2, 2007

Hi Anne,

as the standard car battery voltage is 12V DC around the world, you can use your adapter anywhere.

Sure Aug 2, 2007

I use mine both in the US and Europe, and it works fine.
I also use my Radio Shack adapter in Europe to charge my laptop batteries.

Are you renting a car? Aug 2, 2007

Some of the lower end rental cars don't have the cigarette lighter any more (it has happened to me!)
