Just a brief note to say I finally received my Diploma in Irish Gaelic today. I think this calls for an early finish this afternoon *lol*

Well done, out of curiosity, what diploma is it (linguistic, translation...)?

Good news! Sep 25, 2007

And I truly admire you for mastering this beautiful language.

I'll raise a glass of Guinness to you, albeit a can of Pub Draught Guinness, not exactly thick enough to stand on...

All the best, Orla

I'll drink to that! Sep 25, 2007

Wish we had good Irish keg brew here. A liking for that is one thing I have inherited from my ancestors, whose language I have never heard. I have to get by in English and Spanish.

Go raibh maith agaibhicon_smile.gif

I did the Dioplóma sa Ghaeilge course in Maynooth, which is a language course designed for people who use Irish professionally like civil servants and Gaelscoil teachers & staff.
I don't qualify as such for the new H. Dip in Irish translation in Maynooth as I already have a degree in translation from DCU and have been working as a translator for a few years. I reckon they just couldn't face working out my module exemptionsicon_wink.gif

Nancy: as long as it is Guinness, that's the main thing - Sláinteicon_smile.gif

Have a very nice afternoon and enjoy!

All the best from Germany.

(I can only raise a cup of coffee right now, but maybe there'll be something more 'spirited' this evening. Every opportunity is welcome ...icon_wink.gif )
