Despite its often seedy reputation, you could try craigslist.com (You can specifiy the country you want to search in ).

For example, I just found this ad there:

A luxurious WATER BUNGALOW, or houseboat for rent. Excellent spot, good opportunity to experience how it is to live on water in Amsterdam! Fully furnished and equipped. For rent during February until mid-March. Price/ period negotiable. EUR 450 per week. Pics on request. For non-smoker only!

Maybe not exactly what you are looking for but at least a place to rest your weary head on top of the water.icon_smile.gif

If you're flexible on location Jan 25, 2008

And don't mind sharing something larger with a few others, I can highly recommend this:

PS. I'm somewhat biased as my dad revised, translated and published a book about af Chapman (first naval architect in Sweden).

VRBO Jan 28, 2008

Try the website www.vrbo.com (Vacation Rentals by Owner). I haven't looked at what's available in Amsterdam, but in there are indeed a few houseboats to rent in Paris.

You might also check Craigslist from time to time.

Best of luck -- Amsterdam is charming and seeing it from the canal perspective is a must!!
