How to "improve" the track changes

I'm using track changes function while editing the text (MS Office 2003). Translation is in TRADOS.

I usually select the word or phrase that I wish to replace and just type new words. Recently I have noticed that in addition to new words that I type Word inserts part of the phrase that I condisered as removed (usually one last word).

Did anybody face this problem and how did you deal with it?

Does anybody know how to switch off such autoreplacement?

I haven't noticed anything like this, however, my suggestion would be going to Tools > Options and unchecking all options with the word "intelligent". I always do this first thing after installing or re-installing Office at all my computers. Many of these "intelligent" options are too intelligent , so I prefer deciding myself and not letting Word to decide for me what to do.
