Suddenly I found that I can not edit (translate) Organizational chart in word.
What should I do?
The error message is:
"The server application, source file, or item can not be found.
Make sure the application is properly installed and that it has not been deleted, moved or renamed."

Thanks in advance,
Natalya

PowerPoint? Nov 7, 2005

You could try cutting and pasting it into PowerPoint, if you are familiar with it.

The same thing. "... can not be found".
The point is that earlier I worked in Organizational chart too, so I think there is something wrong with the application.

Try rebooting Nov 7, 2005

Or at least restart Word.

But... are you sure the chart is done using MS Word's Organization Chart?
Such charts are often done in Visio. When you click on the object, have a look at the bottom left hand corner of your Word window - the name of the application used to make the chart may be there.
If it's done in Visio, you need to look around for another solution...

No, I'm not sure.
When I richt-click on the chart, one of the lines of contextual meny says "Microsoft Visio Drawing object"
Does this mean that the only way for me to translate it is to draw another chart or a table in new Word document?

Try This Nov 7, 2005

To edit Pictures and Graphs in Word (created with VISIO TOOLS, for example):

a) Go to the graphic image in Word and click on it. A black box should appear around the image.

b) Press Shift-Ctrl-F9 simultaneously.

c) A Box with the word PICTURE should appear.

d) Click the RIGHT mouse button anywhere inside the graphic image.

e) A menu should appear. Select the EDIT PICTURE option.

There you go... Nov 7, 2005

If the chart is simple, you can try reproducing it using Organizational Chart, but if it's not, it can be very time consuming.

You can download a trial version of MS Visio here:

It weighs 185 MB, so it's your call.

Visio is not part of any version of MS Office. It's a separate application, so you are not really "expected" to own it. Maybe you can just translate the text of the chart and number the boxes somehow, so the client can paste the translated text into the appropriate boxes. It's not very elegant, but it would work.

P.A.S.

[Jeff's post] Ah, yes, as long as the object doesn't fall apart when finished editing.

Textbox Nov 9, 2005

In situations where this does not work, you can also create a text box and position it over the text to be replaced.
