I need a bit of advice. I recently translated a word document that was partially translated when I received it. The previously translated areas were highlighted and scattered throughout the document. I need to count my transalation, but I'm not sure how to go about it. The highlighted areas are unfortunately many and dotted through the passages. Of course, I could go through and select and delete the hightlighted ares, but it's quite a lengthy document. Anyone know of a faster and/or easier way?
Thanks- Jennifer

A solution Apr 8, 2006

You can make a copy of the file, then:
View-Find. Click the Format button, then click on Highlight. In the search options click the box Wildcards.
In the field Find What: *
Replace with: (let empty)
Replace All, then you have all the words, except those highlighted. You can now perform a word count.
I hope this helps.
Dan

Pre-translated text in certain colour? Apr 8, 2006

Hi Jennifer,

How was the pre-translated text highlighted? Similiar to Dan's advice, I could recommend this:

If the pre-translated text was in one specific colour, e.g. red, and you typed in your translation with automatic colour:

1) Make a Word count for the complete document (pre-translated text + your translation)

2) Make Search for "Format: Text in red colour" (but without entering any text.

3) To be replaced by -Nothing- (leave blank).

4) All the pre-translated text in one specific colour will be deleted, and you can easily assert the amount of your translation.

I hope this helps you a little bit further.

Best regards
Erik
