I have proofread a Word document with track change mode. I saved the changes as I went along but when I closed the file, the changes are gone! I am not very familier with the track change. Was I supposed to protect the document or unprotect the document, or was I supposed to save the file in different way. Could someone tell me if/how I can recover the proofread document?

Check your Track Changes settings Apr 14, 2006

Hello Tsumura-san,

It could be that your Track Changes settings are set to not show the changes in your document. To "fix" this, go to Tools|Track Changes|Highlight Changes (this is from the English version of Word 2000) and make sure the box is ticked for "Highlight changes on screen".

Hope that helps!

Best regards,

Brie

Thank you, Brie Apr 14, 2006

I have the 2000 Word, too. I tried what you said and I have changed the settings. Not exactly sure what had happened still, but I was able to redo the proofreading (and I made sure it is highlighted this time) since it was a small volume. Thank you again for your help.
