Hi,
I wonder if someone can help me come up with the search and replace variables needed for the following example(s)..[It's actually a Wordfast issue which I have been unable to sove despite years of trying, either through TM matching or as glossary entries so I'm hoping to find a S&R work-around]. Unfortunately, I'm hopeless at this sort of thing but it would save much time across 100 files.

Example 1:
Search: Ferri n. 3 e n. 4 1/2
Replace: Size: US 1½/ 3 and 4½ mm/ UK 8 and 10
(No, sizes are not accurate but just an examples)

Example 2:
Search: Ferri n. 9
Replace: Size US 5/ 9 mm/ UK 4
Many thanks for any suggestions,
Bambi

Wordfisher Dec 12, 2006

You could set this up in Wordfisher.. If there are quite a few pairs to replace, it could be worth it. The idea would be that you make a glossary file in Word in this format:
source term 1 [separator char.] target term 1
source term 2 [separator char.] target term 2
source term 3 [separator char.] target term 3
etc.
and then when you run the replace function in Wordfisher (having set up a Wordfisher project), it will do all these respective replacements in one go.

This is certainly one solution that I had not thought of. Thanks a lot. If all else fails, I will do it this way.
But I am still hopeful someone with more skills that I have in S&R will have a suggestion.
Thanks very much indeed,
Bambi

Sorry, the Alt key on my keyboard just got stuck and in my frenetic efforts to get it "unstuck" I must have hit some other key twice to post this twice

Must not forget, buy new keyboard while Christmas shopping.

Cecilia
