See more from the OmegaT group on Yahoo http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/OmegaT/message/12221 Dear All, OmegaT test version 2.0 has been released. Compared to the previous 1.8, the new version 2.0 contains 11 enhancements. The most significant changes in OmegaT 2.0 are not visible, but in the engine behind. The loading and indexing system has been completely rewritten, providing "on demand" matching. As a result, load time should now be under a minute in most cases. Memory consumption has also been reduced, allowing to load large projects (e.g., 300,000 words) together with large translation memories (e.g., 63 MB, 20,000 entries). The on-demand computation is still very fast, and the difference isn't usually noticeable. Filters have also been improved. There is a new QuarkXPress Copy Flow Gold filter, allowing to use OmegaT for DTP projects, as well as a subtitles (SRT) filter. The HTML, XHTML and OpenXML filters have also been improved. The internal changes will allow more improvements to come. As part of these major changes, OmegaT now requires Java 1.5. While it has been tested in a limited number of production environments, this software is a beta version. As such, its behavior is subject to be largely modified in future versions, and caution is recommended when using it for real work. The OmegaT Project always welcomes developers, localizers and users to contribute their experience, knowledge and insights to the software we release.
